My name is Antonis and as a child I always wanted to have a dog. I didn’t manage to fulfil my childhood dream because for most of the years I lived in a small apartment in Athens. Ι always loved wolf hounds, but I strongly believed that such dogs could not live in small apartments, it would be a prison for them. So I dreamt of the day that I would live in a big place, where I could have my first dog.
This became true in 1988 when I was 22 years old. A friend of mine, Costas, had got five years ago a couple of german wolf hounds with excellent pedigree. In December of 1988, as he saw how much I loved dogs, he asked me why I didn’t have one and I replied that I was seeking for a white wolf hound. He said that every time his dog had puppies there were always one or two white among them and he expected her to give labor that month. So I got my first White Swiss Wolf Hound, Fiona. As the years were passing by and I was discovering the character of these animals, I was falling more in love with that specific race. I got more dogs and I started to get involved with their breeding. In 1992 I decided to breed that specific race and I imported from Russia a male dog, Eric, and two years later two females Gina and Rose.
The turning point in my occupation with breeding was my decision in 1995 to move permanently in the countryside. Since then I live in Platystomo, a small village 30 Km far from Lamia, 2.30 hours from Athens and 4 hours from Thessaloniki. It lays in an amazing valley and in the foot of Agrafa, Oiti and Vardousia. In the village there are the well known thermal springs of Platystomo, which are suitable for many illnesses. Also in the area there is a big hotel compound.
Our facilities are located in this area, in a farm of 3000 square meters. The farm is next to my house, so we consider all our dogs as members of our family. This is a significant help to the socialization of the puppies, since they grow up among other pets or among our children’s friends. We participate in a big survey about the DNA of BBS regarding the optimization of their appearance, their character and especially their health. We are members of the Kennel Club of Greece (KOE), the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and the international group BBS (BBI). The modern facilities of Agrafa Nagi Tanka ensure a healthy living for our dogs. We also have a maternity home so as to provide a quiet and peaceful environment for the mothers and the puppies. Each birth takes place after a long-year survey for the candidate parents, in case they don’t come from our farm, so as to ensure the high standards we have set.
